…grace of God in truth…
because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel,
which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth,
Col 1:5-6 ESV
No going to dissect too much into it but interestingly, these 3 points caught my attention:
In the word of truth, the gosepl.
whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you
since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth
Having checked a few versions, the phrase - ‘grace of God in truth’ remains; it indicate when we truly encounter the Grace of God in truth, we (will) bear fruit.
At this point of time, my understand of the word fruit will be:
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
As the word -‘fruit’ suggest, it’s not something we do to pop it out but liken to a tree or vine planted in good ground with all the TLC elements invloved. Indicating time and seasons plays a part too.
While on the topic of being fruitful… Oohhh, it gonna open up another sermonett from Jn 15.
What i would sum up from these pointers:
As we encounter the grace of God in truth, (He) will lead us to remain in the Father to bear fruit… There will come a time of pruning process in us (inward & outward) to bear much fruit for Him.
